An exceedingly rare offering from the same Santa Barbara hillside farm as our recently released Yeast Washed Caturra, this Geisha from Southern Ridge Ranch is something special. The farm grows very little of it. The majority of the trees there are Caturra, which makes this harvest something worth savoring.
Southern Ridge Ranch sits in the sun-drenched foothills above Santa Barbara, where an extraordinary convergence of marine air and coastal light pushes coffee cherries through a ten-month maturation. The result is a depth of complexity that rivals the finest high-altitude farms in the tropics.
This lot was hand-picked at peak ripeness and carried down to our mill in Ventura, where it was floated, pulped, and cold fermented for 42 hours with a careful yeast inoculation stage before being washed clean and laid to rest on raised drying beds for 13 days to a stable moisture of 10.1%.
